Helen Cross Writing Classes
Helen Cross is the author of four novels including My Summer of Love, which became an award-winning movie starring Emily Blunt, and Spilt Milk Black Coffee which was also optioned for movie development. Two of her original screenplays are currently in development with UK film companies and her audio dramas are regularly broadcast on BBC Radio 4 (most recently Flixborough 74, on 1 June, and which is currently available on BBC Sounds . Other recent work includes many published short stories and the acclaimed podcast drama series, English Rose, two seasons of which are currently available on BBC Sounds. English Rose is on the shortlist for Best Original Series in the 2025 BBC Audio Drama Awards.
Helen Cross currently teaches, in 2024, as a Visiting Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Cambridge. She has also taught Creative Writing around the world in some of the most prestigious institutions and has been Writer in Residence at the Universities of Mumbai, Birmingham and East Anglia. She is a member of The Society of Authors and NAWE (the National Association of Writers in Education). She lives in Birmingham, UK, with her partner and a giant poodle (who attends all her writing classes!)
