About this event

Lightning Talk

What? Designed to Fit. But for Whom?

Who? Selina Finsler, Graduate M.A. in Service Design HSLU.

Inclusive design is often misunderstood. Many organizations treat accessibility as an afterthought: a box to check rather than a fundamental design principle. But true inclusion isn’t just about compliance. It’s about rethinking how we design services, systems, and experiences from the start.

✨ Selina will also bring a physical prototype from her research—a tactile 3D model designed to help blind users navigate train stations before they arrive at the station.

We will discuss for example the following questions:

  • What strategies can make inclusive design a fundamental principle rather than an afterthought?
  • What are the biggest barriers preventing inclusivity in industries built on efficiency and mass production?
  • In what ways does technology create new forms of exclusion, even when aiming to be accessible?
  • What forms of exclusion do we unconsciously accept, and how can we challenge them?

Hello 50:50 World

Can we really achieve gender equity and diversity in tech if we stay in our feminist bubbles? Do you believe that we can only achieve more equality when everybody is on board? Then join the conversation on diversity in tech at our Hello 50:50 world meetups.

To participate, you’ll need to bring someone with a different perspective (e.g., gender, nationality, etc.) to ensure balanced participation. Both you and your +1 need to get a ticket so we can better manage attendance.

Can I join the meetups also without bringing someone?

We highly encourage you to convince someone you can bring along someone with a different perspective to increase diversity and ensure a balanced participation. If your +1 cannot make it or you weren't able to find someone for the date of the meetup, you can of course still join the meetup.

Does my guest also need a ticket?

Yes, make sure your +1 also reserves a spot so we have a better overview of attendance.
