This guided experience will take you on a gentle discovery of the sounds, smells, sights and feels of nature – and of yourself. By slowing down, our thinking also slows down, giving us a chance to look at things from a new perspective.
My forest and nature bathing walk is inspired by the Japanese “shinrin-yoku”, forest bathing. It is a research-based approach to wellbeing through spending time in a forest or natural environment. The regular practice has identified physiological, psychological and social benefits, for example improved functioning of the immune system, stress-relief, improved relaxation etc.
We do not need to be in a wilderness forest to appreciate and enjoy the beauty and healing benefits of nature. The wonderful setting of Merian Gärten in Basel greatly supports our practice during this introduction to forest bathing.
